Dino had three goodnights to say.
‘Good night, tall fern.’
The fern brushed his nose.
‘Good night, round stone.’
The stone kept his toes warm.
‘Good night, Mama.’
Mama curled her tail around him.
Dino closed one eye. Then the other.
But something tickled his cheek.
A tiny leaf had landed on his pillow.
Dino opened one eye again.
‘One more good night,’ he whispered.
‘Good night, little leaf.’
Mama smiled.
Four goodnights were just right.
Dino closed both eyes again and rested beside Mama.
